With this recent heat, summer is definitely in full swing and making itself known. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer! I love the warmth, the beach days, fresh fruits, the tanned skin and serotonin-rich happy moods, but there are some things that I find hard to bear including the sunburn, sleeplessness and mozzie bites. In this weather, there are some essential oils and blends that I just could not live without and it’s those that I am going to share with you.
Sunburn Spritz
Top with water in a small, glass spray bottle and spray directly onto the affected skin.
NOTE: be careful of the mix near your eyes, you do not want the peppermint in there! If you want the spray for your face I would just omit the peppermint.
Sleep Well
I don’t know about anyone else but unless you’ve got the air-con cranking it can be so hard to sleep in the sticky heat! I’ve always used some kind of combo of Lavender Peace, juniper berry and cedarwood for sleeping, depending what’s on hand. They smell amazing and promote deep and peaceful sleep.
Now, however, there are Serenity capsules available for purchase (hallelujah!) They combine lavender essential oil and L-Theanine along with lemon balm, passionflower, and chamomile to provide a super-easy way to have your oils to promote a night of deep and peaceful sleep, without waking to feel groggy in the morning!
Fresh Drinks
We all know how important is to keep your water up in summer, but it can be hard to drink enough! I add citrus oils to my water to keep me drinking more as well as supporting liver and kidney function and enhancing my mood. Oils like wild orange, lemon and grapefruit are perfect! You can also have a play with adding the oils and fruits to a water jug in your fridge – ahhhmazing!

Mozzie Repellent
Probably my biggest concern in summer is these little bloodsuckers. Mozzies love me… I can’t say I feel the same way. The itching can drive me crazy! I hate to use chemical-laden sprays to keep them at bay, especially when spraying on my skin.
There is an essential oil insect repellent that comes in either a spray or oil called Terrashield and yes, it actually works! It’s a mix of Ylang Ylang, Nootka Wood, Cedarwood Wood, Catnip, Lemon Eucalyptus, Litsea, Arborvitae essential oils and Vanilla Bean Absolute in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil and Tamanu Seed oil and it’s an absolute Godsend!
While there are plenty of oils I use every day, those are some of my absolute favs to really boost your summer vibes! If you’re looking at purchasing some essential oils you can jump onto our sales site here or feel free to message me with any questions.
Happy Summer!
